Gold Canyon, Arizona resident, Steve Moore, won the opportunity to play a round of golf with golf commentator and personality, Gary McCord. Moore, and two golf buddies of his choice, will tee it up on November 29 at SunRidge Canyon Golf Club in what will certainly be one of the most entertaining rounds of their lives.

“Wow, how cool is this going to be?” said Moore. “I’ve always gotten a chuckle out of the way McCord colors his commentary with a light-hearted tone. He offsets some of the stiffness that can turn some people off to the game. We’re looking forward to chatting during the round.”

In addition to the round with McCord, six 2012 SunRidge Players Card holders (and one guest each) were drawn out of a hat to follow McCord’s group during the “Wicked Walk Along,” a reference to the final holes aptly dubbed the Wicked 6. The 12-person gallery will tag along while the group takes on this stretch of holes that tend to play quite difficult. Plus, Wicked Walk Along participants are invited to enjoy a cold beverage after the round in the SunRidge Canyon clubhouse while McCord tells tall tales of the Tour and lord knows what else.

FOUNTAIN HILLS, ARIZ. – SunRidge Canyon Golf Club announced today that it will be home to a new Jim McLean Golf School, with a full complement of game-improving instruction programs and packages available to students beginning in mid November 2011.

“Jim McLean certainly has built an impressive resume over the years as a player, instructor and author,” said Jeff Lessig, General Manager of SunRidge Canyon Golf Club. “We look forward to building a strong relationship between our organizations to provide a solid venue for golfers to learn the game at the best school available.”

The instruction facility will be located on SunRidge Canyon’s practice facility with a permanent structure to be built in 2012 to house the school. McLean’s stable of Lead Master, Master and Certified Instructors will begin accommodating students sometime mid November with frequent visits from McLean as his calendar permits.

“We’re anxious to get started at SunRidge Canyon,” said Jim McLean. “We have been meaning to establish a school in the Scottsdale area for some time now. After a number of site visits by our team, SunRidge Canyon quickly made its way to the top of the list. The combination of great facilities located in a uniquely beautiful setting ultimately swayed our decision in their favor.”

Much like its counterparts throughout the world, the Jim McLean Golf School at SunRidge Canyon will draw students from across the U.S. and the world, a perfect match given that the Scottsdale/Fountain Hills area is already a popular destination for golf vacationers. A big congrats to our very own Don Misheff! He shot a 73 in the NE Ohio qualifier at Hudson CC and will participate in this year’s USGA Senior Amateur! Misheff will soon be making his way to Kinloch Golf Club in Manakin-Sabot, VA to play in the championship, held Sept. 10-15.
